Merlot is a red grape variety with small black berries produced in most Bordeaux regions where it represents about half of the planted area. Favorite grape variety for the Saint Emilion, Pomerol etc. appellations, and today in the world,  it reveals itself on clay-limestone soils.  It gives wines aromas of red and black fruits and a superb aromatic palette. During its ageing, notes of prunes, spices and undergrowth gradually appear. It gives the wine a dark and dense color.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is the second grape variety used in the production of Château Garrineau wines; the same is true for the Bordeaux vineyards. It makes the reputation of the vineyards of the Left Bank such as  the Medoc and  the Graves. Cabernet Sauvignon matures later than Merlot. It reflects power, complexity and gives wines aromas of black fruit, violet and raspberry.

La Muscadelle

Muscadelle seems to come from the region of Bergerac where it has been mentioned since the 18th century. It is a vigorous variety that produces beautiful golden bunches when ripe. The main aromas developed are that of muscat but also of honeysuckle and acacia flowers. This grape variety is used in the production of our dry white “Château Garrineau” accompanied by Sémillon. “The tears of my lands”, our sweet white wine is made from this overripe grape variety. It gives it its fine and complex aromas.

Sémillon is a grape variety originating from Bordeaux. It was reported there from the beginning of the 17th century and its development increased in parallel with that of the reputation of sweet wines. However, its planted area has decreased in favor of that of Sauvignon Blanc. It is a variety that thrives on gravelly, clay-gravelly and limestone soils. It gives great dry, fat, complex white wines suitable for aging in barrels like our wine "Le Cabaley". It can also be pushed to over-maturity with an attack of noble rot. It will thus give a great syrupy wine with aromas of apricot, honey, dried fruits and candied citrus fruits.
